New Users and Spam

So since I’m not currently on the road this site is a little slow, all except for the bots trying to add fake users and the spam companies contacting me for a “guest” post. The only way you’re going to get a guest for something as ridiculous as pre-booked parking at a UK airport is if you have “six figures” to offer me. If that’s not in your budget, fuck off.

If you are a legitimate user who’d like to comment or contribute please just drop me a message on my contact page and I’d be happy to set up a user account for you. Since I just deleted over a thousand fake users from here everyone else can go to hell.

On a side note, I landed a new job in Calgary and have settled in for awhile. I’d love to be on the road but Betty needs new tires, I need to get my finances in order and hopefully some new camera gear. I’m going to put some time into this new job and work at getting a stationary photography business going. Figured I’d give that a shot and see what happens. One day I’ll get back out on the road and finish my grand adventure. Until then, as I have time and time off, watch for some shorter road trips documented here in the new year..

To all my REAL readers, thank you.

Day 21 – Not a Very Good One.

I wasted the whole day today working the first video for this blog in Windows Movie Maker to have it completely fail. I can’t seem to save the file or files as in the reading I’ve been doing I tried saving it as 3 or 4 smaller movies to later combine but all that did was give me a thin shred of hope. It got to the point that Windows Movie Maker would crash upon opening an then the Dr. Watson Crash Monitor would crash trying to figure out why WMM crashed. What a joke. I should have known not to bother when I had to download a different program to convert the files from my video camera so WMM could even see them. Why I keep thinking that “this time will be different” with windows I’ll never know. A waste of today and half of yesterday all for nothing. If only I could afford a Mac I’d never look at another Microsoft product for as long as I live.

Then I log in to my Google Adsense to see why my ads aren’t showing here and they’re telling me there’s been a bunch of suspicious activity on my account. What? I haven’t had the time to keep up with my duties on this blog, nor the promotion I want to do, nor my photo editing but apparently I have time to sit here and click my ads all day? What is with these big companies fucking over the little guys,..ooh that’s right, it’s always been like that. They use you until they don’t need you any more.

I’m tired, I’m fed up and I’m looking at another day in the Moab Library as I can’t seem to get anything actually done here. My attempt to get away from technology a little is rapidly becoming a farce.

I’m sure tomorrow will be a better day. It has to be.

Spare Change? No, I mean a lot of spare change?

So in my preparations to be out of my current apartment, amongst the selling of my furniture to the craigslist monsters, while sorting, cleaning and donating I found one more creature I had to contend with. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a metal box that I’ve been throwing pennies into. I roll and spend my other loose change on a regular basis but pennies always just got tossed into this thin metal box. Well, the penny box has gotten to the point that it weighed about 50 pounds. I’m not kidding.

Since I’m stressed for time and not about to sit and roll 50 pounds worth of copper I decided to look for a machine I once saw at the local Safeway that counted the coins, took 10% and gave you a receipt that you could then collect your “real” money from the checkout person. What a great idea I thought. Soon after seeing those machines all those machines were suddenly gone. I’m not sure why.

Simply Computing, Vancouver – Fail. Irepair gets a C+

So about three years ago when I was actually making decent money I bought a 30 GB Ipod with Video. Great little music player, lots of room, love it. Then as I wanted to use my nifty music player on my road trips I bought a Griffin FM transmitter. Grand total of over $450.

While on my last road trip, Ipod was nestled securely in the Griffin holder that’s plugged into the lighter outlet of my truck. Songs playing,…then…crackle, crackle…nothing. Seems I could see the songs, scroll through my playlists, see the album artwork etc, just no sound would come out of the music player that I’ve grown to love. When I got home I started looking into why. Internet says there’s a known issue with the solder job on the logic board. A known Apple problem.
